Marlene Porter is the matriarch of the family, currently residing in Clare. She, along with the late Ron Porter, raised four children at the farm. She now enjoys her life in town with her friend, Bob, where she frequently attends social gatherings with her friends. She often visits the Turners at the farm and enjoys traveling and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Chris Porter grew up on the farm along with three siblings, Carla, Carl and Carrie. He was raised by Marlene and Ron Porter who lived there many years prior to the Turner family. He currently lives in Maryland where he works full time as a nobody just trying to make a living (his words not mine). He looks forward to retiring soon where he will join the homestead movement at the farm with his wife, Traci.
John Porter, son of Chris Porter, is A global market intelligence strategy consultant for a global metals company based in Pittsburgh, PA. In his free time he enjoys creating culinary masterpieces worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. He catered his sister, Joni’s, wedding in October 2016 where he delighted guests with his first dinner menu. He looks forward to catering the annual harvest dinners at the farm with his wife, Amanda.
Joni Turner, daughter of Chris Porter, lives on the farm and is a self-practicing shaman trained in the Andean tradition as well as a reiki practitioner. Her background is in Environmental, Health and Safety compliance and she has worked for 8 years as an EHS professional for several well-respected companies. She looks forward to retiring early to work full time at the farm.
Matthew Turner lives on the farm and is the primary groundskeeper and stay at home dad. He holds an associate’s degree in business management and has a background working as a maintenance mechanic for a biopharmacuetical company in California. Born and raised in Simi Valley, CA he married Joni and moved to Michigan in the late winter of 2017.
